As April is nearing its end that means the first month of baseball season has come and gone. Already you can tell what teams are making a splash and the basement teams of the league.
Baltimore, Detroit, Texas, Washington, St. Louis, and the La Dodgers have all declared dominance and are leading their perspective divisions.
Kansas City Royals, Chicago Cubs, and the San Diego Padres have once again challenged last years mediocrity and are quickly finding that they are out of the playoff race even this early in April.
The two best stories right now in baseball are the La Dodgers and Texas Rangers. The Dodgers are relevant again posting a 9-2 record and superstar Matt Kamp is leading the league with 6 HRs. ON the field success is extremely important in baseball but for the Dodgers it is just a blip on the radar for the organization. The La Dodgers were bought for 2 billion dollars by a group that has Magic Johnson as a controlling partner. The ownership that he is apart of has said they are willing to spend money on smart decisions to make them a winning franchise for years to come. Frank McCourt was the previous owner and after he filled for bankruptcy the team had little to no money to spend and that allowed for many players to leave because of money. With the stability in the clubhouse now the LA Dodgers will be a force for many years to come. The city of Los Angeles should be renamed after Magic for everything he has done for them.
The next big story is the Texas Rangers. The Rangers went to their first World Series two years ago, then they quickly followed that up with their second straight World Series last year. The one word missing is champion, the Rangers have failed to put the final stamp on amazing seasons back to back years. Most recently was the hardest to stomach for many Ranger fans, because they were 1 strike away TWICE from closing out the pesky St. Louis Cardinals.
