Most teams have 2 games left in this crazy track meet feel of a season. The seeds are pretty much set in both conferences except towards the bottom in the East and West.
In the East there is a battle for the seeding between Philadelphia (currently the 8th seed) and New York (currently the 7th seed). Unfortunately there is no light at the end of the tunnel for each team because no matter what either team is faced with playing the Miami Heat or Chicago Bulls. When healthy the Bulls and Heat look invincible and extremely tough to beat, but for the Knicks they have some recent success vs the Bulls so that might be a blessing in disguise to face Derek Rose and company in the first round.
Now in the West changes can happen between the current 6th seed Denver Nuggets and the 7th seed Dallas Mavericks. They are separated by 1/2 a game with 2 games remaining. Also the Clippers could overtake their in-town rival Lakers for the 3rd seed. The 6th seed is important because it is very likely that Metta World Peace of the Lakers will be missing a substantial amount of games after elbowing James Harden’s head after a “failed celebration”. The Mavericks have recent playoff success vs the Lakers sweeping them out of the conference semi-finals just a year ago, but during this regular season the Lakers won all 4 games.
Regardless of the seeding the lock out compressed regular season is hopefully a foreshadow of a very fast past competitive post season where the stars shine.
