The day after a loss is always hard especially when it comes to the Seattle Seahawks who roll out Russell Wilson. It is hard to beleive they drafted him and gave Matt Flynn a 26 million dollar contract. Russell played beyond his years Sunday posting a 112 passer rating. He did not have many flashy plays but he did everything he had to do to win.
Two things shocked me during this game and both had been strengths agains the defending champions New York Giants. Where was the Dallas Cowboys front seven? There was little pressure on Wilson to make him throw arrant passes. Why can’t our line get consistent pressure week in and week out? The blame could be put on Rob Ryan for not dialing up his signature blitzes, but eventually coaches can’t be to blame for everything that goes wrong with this organization.
The second thing that left me baffled after the game was that the Dallas receivers were unable to create space. Dez Bryant is a physical specimen and not many people would argue on that, but he still has some growing up to do in the NFL. If he is going to reach his potential as an elite WR he is going to have to find ways to get open and make big plays. Three catches in seven targets is not comforting and will not cut it.
SPECIAL TEAMS STRIKES AGAIN: Oh hey Pete Carroll we really think we are better than you so here is what we will do for you, we’ll spot you a full 10 points! We’ll fumble the opening kickoff and then let you block a punt for a touchdown. Too many times have I said the Cowboys let a punt get blocked for a touchdown. Joe DeCamillis needs to go, the Dallas Cowboys Special Teams has been dismal for many years under him, he is the one coach that deserves the blame.
Where has Felix Jones gone? One carry for one yard, that is not the stat line for a 1st round pick or at least it should not be. He used to be an important part of the offense with his change of pace speed. I love Murray and think he is really good but running backs these days can’t handle the full load for a full season.
Next week vs. Tampa Bay is going to be another important non-division game. Look at the Eagles two games agains the AFC and they have two wins, neither were pretty but at the end of the day they’re 2-0.
